What does it mean to date, let alone date God.? Zoosk.com defines dating as actively seeking someone you’re interested in and spending time with them; to see someone specifically, with purpose and on a regular basis.

Psalm 37:4 – Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.

I’m just going to be candid, transparent, open, honest; I think you get where I’m going lol, but seriously I’ve had multiple conversations lately about how to have a better, more intimate relationship with God. My response to these conversations was simply, pursue God like he was someone you were interested in.! I mean if we’re really going to be honest. We treat God, like we treat these people out here, we start liking him and then when we’re over it, or something happens that we don’t like, we dump him and move on to the next.

I don’t know about you, but I know I have done this before. I start off all happy and excited, talking to Him everyday, he’s the first person I think about when I wake up and the last person I think about before bed, I talk about Him to everybody all the time (smiling all hard). Then boom, something happens and it causes us to question His loyalty. Does He really like me.? I mean why would he do me like that.? But the real question is, why would WE do HIM like that.?

God is the lover of our soul, He loves us unconditionally. His love for us runs so deep that he would leave everyone else, just to go out and find us (Luke 15:4). It’s amazing how sometimes we don’t recognize how much God loves us. We treat him like that guy/girl we’re not really interested in but entertain or keep in our back pocket just in case we wanna pretend we have somebody we’re talking to.

If you wanna know what Real Love is, then spend time getting to know God. That would require you to study, get in His Word, finding out what He likes and then doing it. In return He will give you the desires of your heart. This is as far as I will take it, I can’t tell you what kind of relationship to have with God because every relationship is different.! But what I will say is that you will experience the best love, peace and joy you’ve ever had in a relationship. 😉
